Public & private commissions & sculptures
As a collaboration between myself & 2 other sculptors (Toby Martin & Marianne Weinberg-Benson), this tall sculpture serves as a focal point for the Ben Hill Recreation Center in Southwest Atlanta. The bands of brick on the tower were carved to depict scenes from the community, the history of the region, and people important to the development of the community. In another component of the public art project, community residents carved 1,000 bricks at workshops we held, and these "Community Quilt" brick murals were placed on the recreation building's facade. The sculpture received an award of excellence from the Atlanta Urban Design Commission.
